Go Bears

Timely tale from Bob Levi.

I’ve heard of Chicago Bears fans amusing themselves by scaring Green Bay fans they would see strutting down the street with that obnoxious green & gold “G” on their coat. They’d swerve their cars as if to hit them, and then swerve back just missing them. With Super Bowl XLI ahead, I heard a similar story about two Bears fans and a Colts supporter.

One day, while driving along, a Bears fan spotted a friend, who was also a Bears fan, walking down the street. The driver thought that he’d give his buddy a lift, so he pulled over and asked him if he needed a ride.

His pal was pleased to get a ride. So the driver told his friend to climb in the back seat since he had packages next to him on the front seat.

Suddenly, the Bears fan saw a Colts fan walking down the road with a Colts jacket. As with a Green Bay fan, he instinctively swerved as if to hit him. But, as usual, he swerved back into the road just in time. Even though he was certain that he had missed the guy, he still heard a loud “THUD.”

Not understanding where the noise came from, he glanced in his mirrors but didn’t see anything. He then remembered his friend in the back seat. He turned and said, “Sorry about the swerving. I almost hit that Colts fan.”

“That’s OK,” replied his friend, “I got him with the back door.”
