Hoary Horse Tail

This is an original from Chris Cole. Thanks.

In New York’s Manhattan Island it’s quite common to see street preachers of every variety, from the calm presenter to the top-of-the-lungs fire-and-brimstone orator. Of particular note were four brothers who staked out the four corners of a busy intersection. They would begin their ministry early in the day, imploring and beseeching passersby to repent because of the upcoming End Times events described in the last book of the Bible, Revelation (sometimes also referred to as the Apocalypse).

Day in and day out these faithful four continued their impassioned pleas to a largely indifferent populace. They had to shout to be heard over all the traffic noise, so that by the end of the day their preaching was reduced to a gravelly whisper. Yet, they did not give up what they felt to be their important calling, but continued until nightfall. Early the next day they would begin again.

Because of their unfailing pursuit of their goal even to the detriment of their voices, these fantastic four were soon known far and wide as the Four Hoarse Men of the Apocalypse.
